411 Launches iPhone App
There are apps for games, apps for social networking, and within the next month there will be an app any production professional shouldn’t be without: The LA 411 app!
The LA 411 app will be a free download available for users of the iPhone, iPads, and iTouch devices. All the listing information found in the LA 411 production directory will be available on the dedicated app: the user will not be redirected back to the www.la411.com website.
“With the popularity of Apple products in the production realm, specifically the iPhone, we felt that launching a dedicated iPhone app for LA 411 was essential,” said Sean Killebrew, Publisher of 411 Publishing. “We recently polled our users and the data revealed that over 80% of respondents have iPhones and 87% would “definitely” use an LA 411 iPhone app. Every effort has been made to create a cutting edge app that’s also easy to use and we feel like we’ve succeeded on both fronts.”
This high speed app will provide a graphical representation of each of LA 411’s twelve production sections, such as Camera and Sound Equipment, Crew, Sets and Stages, and Location Services and Equipment. Utilizing Apple’s “multi-touch” technology, the user will be able to swiftly flip through pages and summon category listings with the touch of a finger. Full contact information including address, phone number, and website will be provided for each listing. The company descriptions that are included in addition to contact information in LA 411’s impact listings will also be completely viewable in the new app.
To enhance the ease of finding and obtaining information, the user will be able to call a company directly from their listing and have GPS mapping functionality to listing locations. In addition to providing the qualified listings individuals have come to rely upon 411 for, the app will also provide immediate connectivity to the LA 411 Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as the 411 News and Updates page.
“In terms of our advertisers, all existing enhanced listings on LA 411.com will be pulled into the app at no additional charge,” said Killebrew. “The app will also feature one exclusive banner ad on each page, with pricing to be announced in July.”
