Christopher Freilich

I've been making movies since I was twelve years old, when I started shooting "sequels" to Star Wars on Super8 and VHS. One of them was actually honored with a cinematography award at my eighth grade graduation ceremony!

Since those heady days of middle school acclaim, I later went on to study cinematography at New York University, the Maine Media Workshops, and at the American Film Institute Conservatory where I received a Masters degree in Fine Arts. I also had the chance to apprentice under Academy Award-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, eventually becoming a camera operator on several scenes on the movie Funny People.

Over my years of study and work, my primary goal has been to develop a deep understanding of how to relate imagery to the story being told. This is a lifelong pursuit, and I am constantly learning new ways of approaching storytelling through photography.
