Around the World in Sixty Minutes will present the latest in international incentive news.
Variety 411, the national production resource dedicated to the film, television and commercial production community, in partnership with tax incentive leader EP Financial Solutions, the Producers Guild of America, the Association of Film Commissioners International, with the generous support of the UK Film Council, will present a webinar focused on global production incentives at the 2015 Cannes International Film Festival.
Marking the series’ fourth appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, “Around The World In Sixty Minutes” will explore recent legislative and production tax incentives changes in popular international shooting locations including Columbia, Germany, Asia, Australia, South Africa and the US. The presentation was filmed before a live audience at the UK Film Lounge at the International Pavilion and will be accessible at no charge as a webcast on Thursday, May 21nd, at 11:00am PST / 2:00pm EST.
Tax experts and film commissioners will participate in a lively round table discussion highlighting recent changes in tax structures, infrastructure and post production incentives that continue to elevate the global production landscape. Panelists include Silvia Echeverri Botero, Head of the Columbia Film Commission and an economist who lead the process for the approval of Law 1556 , Isabel Davis, Head of International Production, British Film Institute who combines an editorial role in the Film Fund with responsibility for the BFI’s International Strategy, John Hadity, Executive Vice President, EP Financial Solutions who brings 20 years of studio producing experience to his role overseeing administration, procurement, placement and monetization of production tax credits, Cornelia Hammelmann, Head, DFFF/German Federal Film Board and former Managing Director of MEDIA Desk Germany, the main German information office to the MEDIA Programme of the European Union for many years, and Robert Wong, Vice President, Creative BC, a chartered accountant responsible for all administrative aspects of Film Incentive BC (FIBC), the Production Services Tax Credit (PSTC), and development funding programs. . Special guests representing China, Australia and South America will be added to the panel in the upcoming days.
The panel will be moderated by Joe Chianese, EVP of EP Financial Solutions. Chianese provides consulting, financial, tax, administrative and tax credit placement services for domestic and international film, television and commercial productions. Chianese will begin the panel with an over-view of recent global incentive structure changes. Throughout the course of the webinar, web attendees will be able to submit questions. The webinar will be archived for six months after its webcast, and may be repeatedly viewed at no charge by the public.
