NYC Based Hot Snakes Media Enhances It’s Reality/Docu-Series TV Production Company
Hot Snakes Media is one of New York City’s most prolific reality and docu-series television production companies. Since its inception in 2011, Hot Snakes Media has broken ratings records for both TLC and Discovery, producing and developing the breakout mega-hit shows “Breaking Amish” and “Amish Mafia.” This past week three new hires were added to the company’s roster: Hal Lewis as executive vice president of production; Billy Murphy as vice president and creative director; and Paul Listro as vice president of finance.
“Hal, Billy and Paul are the perfect additions to the team,” stated Eric and Shannon Evangelista, co-founders of Hot Snakes Media in a joint statement. “We strive to produce captivating entertainment, and their combined experience is indispensable as we continue to build our brand.”
Hal Lewis is an award-winning television executive, with more than 25 years of experience in overseeing physical production on series and specials for cable and broadcast networks. As head of production for CBS EYE Productions, he supervised numerous highly rated series, such as “Brother vs. Brother,” “Design Star” and “Food Network Star.” His other credits include “24 Hour Restaurant Battle,” “Stunt Junkies,” “Nextworld” and “Futurecar.” Previously, Hal was a VP for the Weintraub Entertainment Group in Los Angeles, overseeing the WEG-ABC NEWS joint venture, producing non-fiction programming for cable including “Eagle and the Bear” and “Heroes.” While serving as the SVP of production for CEL Communications in New York, Hal’s work included “Creativity with Bill Moyers” and “The Animal Express” with Joan Embery. In his current role at Hot Snakes Media as EVP of production, Hal brings his background in lifestyle, follow-doc and competition series to the company to produce compelling and entertaining programming.
Billy Murphy is an Emmy Award-winning editor and producer who has been bringing his creative vision to the screen for over 17 years. As a pioneer of MTV Networks’ editing style, he played a critical role in the shaping of flagship series including “TRL,” “Made,” “My Super Sweet 16,” and “Mob Wives.” His other credits range from the dramatic tone of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” to the adrenaline rush of the “X-Games.” His picture editing and sound work credits include Bravo, Discovery, TLC, A&E, TruTV, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Spike, and ESPN. As VP and creative director at Hot Snakes, Billy’s unique vision is the driving force behind the company’s distinct look, sound, and feel. He relies on his extensive experience in both female- and male-oriented programming to create and design the perfect style that excites and engages audiences.
Paul Listro had worked in various reality TV production roles in Los Angeles before joining Castle Rock Entertainment in 1992 where he gained exposure to scripted episodic television as well as feature films. It was there that he nurtured an aptitude for numbers and launched his freelance career in feature film production accounting. After several films and a bit of travel, Paul took an in house position at the newly formed DreamWorks SKG where he spent six happy years and worked on more than twenty films. Moving to New York in 2005 brought him back to reality where he spent two years at ITV, then went on to head of finance roles at Chorion, a British children’s media firm, and then Stick Figure Productions, a NY reality TV and documentary film production company. Paul is now thrilled to put his two and a half decades of diverse experience to work with the fine team of people at Hot Snakes Media.
