LA 411 Supports Cool June Events

June marks the kick-off to the summer months; days filled with trips to the beach, baseball stadiums, cookouts and fireworks.  For the production word, June is also a month of celebration with a bevy of expos, workshops and festivals that are must attends.  LA 411 is making the most of this summer fun by partnering with three of the June’s most prominent activities:  the 0PGA Produce ByConference, Film Independent’s Los Angeles Film Festival, and AFCI’s Location Show.   

 

PGA Produced By  

Now in its fifth year, the Produced By Conference is a two-day event catered to producers to learn about current and evolving trends in production, distribution, finance, marketing, branding and media strategies.  Presented by the Producers Guild of America, four ninety-minute presentations are offered ranging from topics such as “Small World, Big Money: New Facts On Domestic AndInternational Produciton Incentives,” “Hit The Ground Showrunning,” and “Market Price: The State Of Film Financing.” All sessions are presented by leaders in the topics respective industry.  A sampling of this year’s speakers includes: J.J. Abrams, Gale Ann Hurd, Rob Legato, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. 

Recognizing the benefits networking provides producers, each session is followed by a half our networking break.  Additionally, producers have access to round-table discussions during the lunch break where they have one-on-one time with top level executives and producers.

Los Angeles Film Festival

Celebrating its 19th year, the Los Angeles Film Festival will take place June 13th -23rd at L.A. Live.  Produced by Film Independent, the festival is a celebration of the spirit and craft of independent film making.  In addition to world premiere events and a selection of documentary, international and animated features, L.A. Film Fest presents special panels, master classes, and concerts related to the year’s presentation.

This year’s opening night film will be “I’m So Excited,” directed by Pedro Almodovar.  The closing night feature is “The Way, Way Back,” co-directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash.  To learn more about purchasing tickets and attending this year’s slate of events, please visit:

AFCI Locations Show

The Location Show is alive and well and going strong, and will once again be taking place in downtown LA at the Los Angeles Convention Center June 27-29th.  Meet with film commissioners from around the world and learn about their incentive packages, locations, and organizations that can help you get your film made. Included in this three day event are free workshops and sessions including “Shooting Film and TV in the UK: A Whistle Stop Tour Around the Nations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales,” “Producing in the Cloud” and “Low Budget + Big Screen = Real Economic Impact.”
