AMPAS Shares Oscar Nominations Via Video Stream

Modern musical “La La Land” received fourteen nominations in the 2017 Oscar race.

The 2017 Oscar nominations were revealed on Tuesday, January 24th.  Forgoing the traditional live announcement presented at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, this year’s nominees were revealed during a live-stream presentation.  Every category was represented during the streamed event, with the nominees names names presented inbetween pre-recorded segments featuring past Oscar attendees including Gabourey Sidibe (2010 nomination for “Precious”), Guillermo del Toro (2007 nomination for “Pan’s Labyrinth”) and Brie Larson (2016 win for “Room”).

“We’re going to invite past Oscar nominees and winners to help welcome this new class, and to actually walk them through the next 33 days,” said Dustin Lance Black, Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay for 2008’s “Milk.”

The nineteen minute presentation, which includes the past nominees sharing insight and tips garnered from their experience during their road to the Oscars, is available for repeat viewing HERE.
